Here’s a 12 minute Power Yoga session for big guys, and people with bigger bodies. A lot of people don’t believe that a big guy can do yoga. I’m here to bust that myth.
Big guys should do yoga to increase stability in the lumbar spine (low back) improve hip & shoulder mobility and range of motion, and it’s a great overall health practice.
Power yoga is fast moving, and can be a great workout. Power yoga is great for weight loss, not just because it burns calories, but the breathing in this “yoga style” helps you control your stress response, aka Cortisol. Cortisol is stress hormone released when we’re in ‘fight for flight’ mode. By breathing in and out through your nose, we gently tell our vagus nerve to relax.
By breathing slower and in a controlled manner, we are able to release stress, lower cortisol, and then, almost by magic, weight is released from our body.
